It so happened that I did post something about Rachel's tomb because of carob tree (Ceratonia Siliqua). The only tree that outlived olive tree according to wikipedia. Also known as the St. John's bread. Ancient jewelers used this by measuring diamonds. One carob seed was the smallest weight for a diamond and so it gave the name carat. It's practically identical making them perfect as standard weight. The average carob seed weighs about 3 1/3 grains just over 200 milligrams. One carat of a diamond is equal to 200 milligrams so that's the story about how it came to be called carat.
Diamonds resist blows to such an extent that an iron hammer may be split in two and even the anvil itself may be displaced....(Pliny The Elder)
